"Art is Science, Science is art."

Students at the The Lycee Cazin have, over the last year painted a series of hoardings which are inspired by the work of great artists and explore ideas from the realm of science.
These impressive paintings introduce colour and interest to the walls of the Place Lumiere in Boulogne.

Gifted and Talented Students at the Folkestone Academy have been chosen to complete two hoardings which will take inspiration from the work of Piet Mondrian and Robert Motherwell.
The hoarding inspired by Piet Mondrian will use the microscopic structure of DNA as a starting point for an abstract composition.
In the hoarding inspired by Robert Motherwell students will use the negative space surrounding organic forms as a spring board for painting.

Students in the Lycee Cazin are creating a second series of hoardings exploring a new range of artists and ideas.
Two hoardings will be inspired by the masks of the Alaskan Inuit tribes. Students will use the local museum in Boulogne as resource where they will view the masks to make inspire their work.
The second pair of hoardings will look to explore the work of Wassily Kandinsky, music, colour and composition.

The students from both England and France will be communicating and recording their work via this gateway. Images and information will be updated regularly to allow evaluation and reflection to take place and drive the creative process.

Collectively these hoardings will be launched in March 2010 at the Place Lumiere.
